When it comes to research and innovation, the College of Arts and Sciences and its Departments consistently achieve a level of excellence unparalleled by most. Our groundbreaking, globally renowned undergraduate research has continually led to industry-evolving innovations.
In a supportive, collaborative environment, UNL’s Department of Communication Studies’ students and faculty produce fascinating research projects, and results. Three cross-cutting scholarly initiatives guide our teaching:
- Civic Engagement focuses on the role of communication in facilitating public participation, mediating public controversies and organizing for social change and citizen involvement.
- Health and Well-being focuses on the role of communication in understanding and explaining individual and relational health, promoting healthy behaviors and helping persons navigate challenges.
- Identity and Difference focuses on the role of communication in constituting identity in a complex and diverse world.
