In a supportive, collaborative environment, our students and faculty produce fascinating research projects and results. Three cross-cutting scholarly initiatives guide our teaching:

• Civic Engagement focuses on the role of communication in facilitating public participation, mediating public controversies and organizing for social change and citizen involvement.
• Health and Well-being focuses on the role of communication in understanding and explaining individual and relational health, promoting healthy behaviors and helping persons navigate challenges.
• Identity and Difference focuses on the role of communication in constituting identity in a complex and diverse world.
