Bill Seiler, Professor of Communication Studies, received the National Communication Association’s 2015 Wallace A. Bacon Lifetime Teaching Excellence Award.

The award is given annually to honor a lifetime of outstanding teaching.  Seiler was recognized for his service to the university. He joined the faculty in 1972 and served as department chair for 21 years.  During that time, Seiler mentored many of the top instructional students in the discipline, and his dedication to the basic course and innovative vision for the Personalized System of Instruction (PSI) have inspired communication education on college campuses across the country.  Seiler’s commitment to teaching excellence has earned him the distinction of NCA’s Basic Course Distinguished Faculty Award (2013) and induction into the Central States Communication Association’s Hall of Fame (2013).

“The communication discipline has a long tradition of exceptional scholarship,” said NCA Executive Director Nancy Kidd. “We’re proud to recognize Dr. Seiler’s contributions with this well-deserved award.”
